[TV Series] Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is new American television series, that took place right after the Avenger film. You know the one with that battle of New York, monsters coming out from an inter-dimensional portal. At the end of that battle, New York was wrecked and littered with alien dead bodies, that was still hanging to their to their weapons and armors. Well, the heroes did their job, the enemies lies dead on the streets, everyone popped a cork of champagnes back at Tony Stark's mansion, and somebody needs to do the cleaning. And it ain't gonna be the heroes. At the end of the Avenger movie, you already seen Thor rushing back home because he had to urm.. hand over Loki to the Asgardian's authority. Yup, can't stay to pick up the broom. Got some delivery to do back home. Hope to see you guys in the next fight, yes?

Hence comes the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Originally, S.H.I.E.L.D stands for Supreme Headquarters of International Espionage Law-enforcement Division. But well, since stuff is happening around America, might as well renamed it to something more appropriate, and in this show it stands for, Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistic Division. This show was first aired on 24th September 2013. Up until today, there are 13 episodes that been out, and for their first season, they gonna make it to 22 episodes.

Black Ops Specialist
To be honest, I've only watched the first two episodes. But I think its fair to say that it is to early to judge whether or not this show is great or not. Whats important is, is it even watchable? So let us see who is the cast here first, no?

The show started with a pilot episode that shows the aftermath of the Avenger's battle for New York city, linked with the Iron Man little escapade with the Extremis terrorist. Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) is a S.H.I.E.L.D with level 6 clearance was assigned with the case to tracked hacker group known as the Rising Tide because they seems to have info that is not super-good to be exposed to outside world. For example like, is you neighbor have superpowers and had just survived and exploding building? That kind of information. The Rising Tide is exposing stories of emerging superheroes, and the S.H.I.E.L.D is really having a raging pain in ass to clean up all of the messes.

To ensure that humanity remain blissfully ignorant, the S.H.I.E.L.D track down these super-powered human and offered them safety, as safe as anyone could be in a high-tech prison cell can be. So in order to do just that, a team- wait, didn't the Avengers did this same thing? Well, it doesn't matter. The S.H.I.E.L.D need to assembled a team of their top agents in order to clean up all of these messes. Mr. Grand Ward, welcome to level 7 clearance.

Ace pilot
In case you doesn't recognize her, she is one of Charlie Harper's love interest in Two and a Half Men. Probably heart broken by Charlie's promiscuity and reluctance to get married, she joins in the S.H.I.E.L.D so this time it would be she that bears the big gun.

Nah, I'm just pulling your legs. Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) is one the team member. She is actually a veteran field agent that had a bad experience, very bad experience. that caused her to take a desk job to urmm.. drown herself with enough paperwork to forget her terrible past memories. Wait- wasn't Charlie Harper also a bad memory? Is it about him? It was, wasn't it?

No, that was a different TV show. It wasn't exactly revealed what it was but she had a nickname, the 'Cavalry'. So we can pretty much guess what it was all about. Best left it alone, some thing are not to be remembered.

Cute Female Hacker
Skye (Chloe Bennet) is a civilian recruit who is a computer hacker and a member of the 'Rising Tide', a hacktivist group that hell-bent on revealing deep dark government secrets for urm.. 'shielding' the truth from the masses.. She make herself known by posting a video she recorded using her phone and had the same encrypted signature in her Rising Tide ID. And also, she had a few hacking cases that involves the S.H.I.E.L.D. So yeah, she had a real bad case regarding anything with the word shield there.

She was captured during one of her session in posting to the Rising Tide website or something. She do it all from her van that was filled with electronic hardware - wait did she just power up all those laptops and monitors using her van's battery? Anyway, she was recruited because she is an enigma to S.H.I.E.L.D as she herself doesn't know her own past. She had an obscure past. And the S.H.I.E.L.D is willing to help, and by help I mean utilizing her skills.

The Nerd
Leopold "Leo" Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) is also another agent of S.H.I.E.L.D who specialize in engineering. Is it just me or the role is bit redundant or overlaps with the cute female hacker? Possibly. He is more of a weapon design specialist, but he is still handy with computers.

He created surveillance, espionage, and high tech stuff that allows him to play with his multi-monitored pad. But other than that he also make weapons for the S.H.I.E.L.D's agent. Actually, I don't get it myself. This guy is an expert of technology, engineering, physics, he even familiar with foreign tech such as the Tesseract. In a way, he should be the team mech geek. Well, I guess if we wanted to hear somebody rambling about info this and intel that, might as well use the cute female hacker to spout nonsense without us losing interest.

The Other Nerd
Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) is another expert just Fitz, but instead she is more of toward bio-chemistry. In other word, she is an expert on biology and chemistry. In fancy words, she is the team's medic and forensic officer. She checks your blood, verify you DNA, and gives you a table of a dietary intake for you to follow.

Familiar with foreign biochem tech, she managed to identify some alien stuff have been mixed with the new drugs that makes people go superhero, leading the team toward the Extremis, the Centipedem and the Tesseract. Wait, is it all connected? Well, its only the first season. I'm sure it would be explained along the way.

Team Leader level 7
Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) is the leader of this particular S.H.I.E.L.D team. While he is not busy harassing Tony Stark in his mansion or shooting Loki with the Revenge gun in the face, he manage this sketchy teams and shapes it to be the best of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Wait, didn't he died, after the little showdown with Loki in The Avengers movie? Well, he claimed to be saved in timely fashion, and Nick Fury faked his death to motivated the Avengers to fight. But urm.. I'm pretty sure that was fatal when he was stabbed. He was lying in the pool of his own blood. That can be right.

Well, when you are in an organization that have helicarrier equipped with high tech lab even Dr. Bruce Banner finds convenience, it does makes sense if he was really saved. Though, if you are familiar with the S.H.I.E.L.D or the Avengers animated series, then you might realize that S.H.I.E.L.D have this thing called Life Model Decoy (LMD) that Nick Fury have been using countless of time to escape from sticky situation. So, is agent Phil Coulson is real, or he is just an android because Nick Fury really miss him. Only time will tell. Maybe at that time, we'll see him harassing Tony Stark again.

'Cause Nick Fury do it on daily basis.

/wahaha
