[Movie] X-Men: Days of Future Past

One of the most waited movie this year, I think. So I'll try not spoil much of the plot. If you are wondering if the movie was good, then I'll say its better than The Wolverine movie. You'll get to see a whole lot mutants in action, and I think people are actually more excited to to see one of the infamous villain in the X-Men series. Notorious to be the possible far future resulted from the hatred of Mankind, mutant and non-mutant alike. The Sentinels.

The film was starred by Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Patrick Stewart, Michael Fassbender, Ian McKellen, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Kelsey Grammar and more. Yeah, like I said it gonna be a whole bunch of mutants this time, having a showdown with the oppressive Sentinels.

Now, the story started in the future. A band of mutants consist of Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page), Iceman (Shawn Ashmore), Sunspot (Adan Canto), Bishop (Omar Sy), Blink (Fan Bingbing), Warpath (Booboo Stewart), and Colossus (Daniel Cudmore), were attacked by the Sentinels. Highly advanced and super murderous, they killed all of those mutants gruesomely. Oh yeah, it was nasty.

But during the fight, Kitty Pryde whose ability can phase through walls, also can phase consciousness through time, managed to send an early warning to mutant group in the past. So we are back to a time a bit early before the attack of the Sentinels. Apparently they have been using this method to evade from the Sentinels attack. But they can't run forever. And so Kitty Pryde convene with the group, along with Professor X (James McAvoy/ Patrick Stewart), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Storm (Halle Berry), and Magneto (Michael Fassbender/ Ian McKellen).

The problem that their are facing at time, was that the Sentinels are driving humanity toward extinction. The non-mutants were oppressed for the suspicion that they may harbor a genetic mutation, while the mutants.. well, they got massacred. And the Sentinels were overwhelmingly super strong, with the ability to mimic the mutants power and adapt with the changing circumstances. Well, they pathetically died in the future remember?

Bolivar Trask needs you!
So some drastic move need to be taken, which Magneto suggested that Kitty Pryde might able to use her phasing consciousness through time ability to prevent the making of the Sentinel. Specifically, a guy name Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage). In the original timeline, Mystique assassinated the guy, but instead of stopping Sentinels from being developed, the assassination turned him into a martyr, making the development of anti-mutant technology more rigorous than ever. In fact, Mystique was captured after assassinating Trask. And from her, through torture and gruesome experimentation, the mimicry ability was unlocked and implemented on the Sentinels, making them as dangerous as in the future.

But then a new problem arises. Who is going to the past? Kitty Pryde wasn't born yet during the time of U.S President Nixon. And most of them as well, or some would be still a kid with unlocked mutant powers. Magneto and Professor X could go, but the trip to decades in the past would ripped them apart. So that leave only Wolverine, ageless and obviously can survived the ripped apart thing.

And so, Wolverine went back to the past in 1973, well his consciousness only. Good thing is that, he is still himself. An adult and can take care on his own. Oh yeah, by the way, in 1973 he's a normal mutant with no adamantium shoved into his bone marrow. Still, thats a good news because the young Magneto won't be able kicked his ass. Or so he taught.

One thing lead to another, Wolverine's mission almost turned from super hard to nigh impossible. Young Charles Xavier was a hippy that abused Beast (Nicholas Hoult)s' serums, suppressing his telepathic powers in return of allowing him to walk. While young Eric Lehnsherr or Magneto, was imprisoned in a concrete prison, deep beneath the Pentagon, under the accusation of assassinating John F. Kennedy. After a frustrating but yet successful persuasion, Wolverine managed to convince young Charles to help him. Wolverine also managed to acquire help from Quicksilver (Evan Peters) to bust young Eric from the prison.

New and old Sentinels.
Their first plan was actually to foil Mystique attempt of assassinating Trask. But Eric went into his crazy mode again and tried to kill Mystique to end the whole thing (Mystique power was what making the Sentinels super hard to fight). Horrified by the turn of event, Mystique ran away and inadvertently exposed herself to the public. Even though Trask didn't die, but it puts the fear into common people and he quickly gain support from the government for his Sentinel Project to deal with the mutants.

And the problem just multiplied itself. Mystique managed to escape and she is still at large, dead-set aiming to kill Trask thinking that it will stop the agenda against mutants. Then Eric who is still in his crazy mode, is also at large, dead-set to establish the mutants as the superior race, by attacking the White House.

Can Wolverine handle all of these problems? Can those two loons stop for a while and listen to what Xavier have to say? Well, all I can say.. right before the ending, the fight in the future were gruesome. While waiting for Mystique to make the choice for their history turning point, the mutant group in the future got attacked by Sentinels (I never understood why they are staying there, didn't they already knew that the Sentinels were coming based from Kitty Pryde early warning? Must they stay at that monastery for the phasing consciousness through time ritual where the stars are in position or something? I think this is one of those super huge plot holes that they have in movies).

Anyway, Bishop was shot by energy charges until he overloaded and explode. Sunspot got stabbed, while Iceman was melted to death. Blink also got stabbed, but Warpath got his head dipped into a streaming energy blast and just melted away. Colossus however, was ripped in half. These all because the Sentinels have the ability of adapting to the mutants power. It was super gruesome, good thing it was all CGI. I'm sure it still watchable by.. kids, I think. But all in all, it was a great movie. Totally loves it.
