[Tutorial] Can VPN bypass broadband quota?

[Tutorial] Can VPN bypass broadband quota?

Is it possible that VPN could bypass your broadband service provider imposed quota? I know that alot of people are looking a way to bypass their limited broadband quota. In fact, I do receive a few emails from my old friends asking the same thing. But one of the emails caught my attention. One of my friend, finally ask the perfect question. The question started like this, 'What is the best VPN service to bypass or have unlimited broadband quota?'. But then he proceeded to ask another question to clarify about his doubt which is, 'Actually, can VPN even bypass the broadband quota?'.

That my friends, is what you should ask first and foremost before you subscribes to any VPN at all. So what exactly does a VPN actually do? And why do they promote their services by flinging around words like 'unlimited' and 'unrestricted'? Does it mean like when a whorehouse advertise that you can get to fulfill every nasty fetishes possible in this world only in their premises but actually they just gonna put you to sleep and mug you blind, or does it mean like that time when you send your car to a workshop and the mechanic uses some fancy and confusing jargon asking you to pay this and replace that but in the end your car still going smoky on you while in the middle of the road back to your house?

Press Read More... to finally get the answer that has been bugging you ever since your internet connection have been throttled by your local lying stinking internet service provider.

That time when you realize that the corruption runs deep.

That time when you realize that the corruption runs deep.

The latest news! Good thing some people read newspaper thoroughly and someone notice that there were some sort of a new announcement or notice made by MCMC (Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission) or in Malay SKMM (Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia), published in one of mainstream newspaper media, Utusan Melayu.

I decided to write up about this issue, TONIGHT! without delay simply because things have gotten worse by the day. Ever since one of the so called 'major source of digital piracy' was taken down, a lot of other websites, forum, blogs, wordpress, and whatnot also suffered the same fate. When people thought, 'well.. we had a good run', and continue with their normal daily lives because obviously they know that 'digital piracy' or 'digital copyright infringement ' is a term coined by the record publishing companies. They use it to sue whoever that is suspected of digital piracy and claim some forecasted losses that is totally unrealistic.

For example, when they caught a person who have downloaded like say, one hundred thousand songs, then the recording company will then try to claim damages amounted to $100,000 provided with each songs cost about $1. You see, whats wrong with this example is that, if the person who is caught downloading the songs decided to 'return back' all those songs, do you think the recording company would just accept it? Why wouldn't they? You do realize that those forecasted sales means the sales that they thought they would sell but in reality thing could turn a bit differently, right?

Now take a good look at this picture. And tell me what do you think about it.

[Tutorial] How to bypass broadband limit

[Tutorial] How to bypass broadband limit

As we all now.. most ISP provider nowadays have put a limit for broadband bandwidth onto their customer. The most obvious one is Celcom Broadband. Because.. they send a message saying that they going to do so. And not just that. The subsequent offer for sales that comes later started to show a table of limitation or restriction for user to download/upload per month.

This is actually not a new issue. It have been around since last year. It just that.. now I'm feeling like sharing a tutorial. Haha.

For a product that you spends money on, it is a bad idea to be restricted on its usage. Especially when you need an unlimited access to it. Customers usually complains that if the new restriction are to be imposed, why not reduce the subscription prices? For those who feel cheated and treated unfairly, you don't have to worry. There is a sinister but yet a simple way to breach the broadband limit imposed by the ISP provider. With that being said, be warned. Do this on your own risk..

[Tutorial] Bypass MCMC/ SKMM Blockade using DNSJumper

[Tutorial] Bypass MCMC/ SKMM Blockade using DNSJumper

You probably felt sick with this topic already, but what can we do? Currently this topic is hotly being discussed across the internet and have taken a huge coverage by the media. RIM (Recording Industry Association of Malaysia) have been making statements with a lot of local newspapers to justify their reasons of pushing the Act that leads to country wide internet censorship.

I'm not going to indulge further more into the issue, because you know.. whatever reasons given by the RIM, it still full shit anyway. All I can say is that even if they took the examples of other country such as Belgium, France and Italy with their internet censorship, they did it because they wanted to block PORN sites. Apparently for other countries, they consider child pornography is much more important issues to handle than file hosting..

Anyway, yes.. there is a software to help users especially in Malaysia to bypass the stupid blockade by the MCMC. I'm sorry for not including it earlier in tutorial of bypassing the MCMC blockade, but its no one loss anyway. At least you get to know the inner working of your internet connection. Just in case the MCMC tries something funny in the future..

The software is called DNSJumper, and it will help you to change you DNS setting with just a click, or several clicks, of buttons.

Its really simple. First you need to choose your network card. Remember, if you are using USB based Modem, you need to choose that. Not your ethernet Local Area Network Card.

Then click on the 'Fastest DNS' button and let the software ping all the DNS servers and it will automatically. Just wait for it to finish.

Finally you can click on the ' Apply DNS Servers' button and... That is it. You can close the application and enjoy you internet surfing. Good luck!

Oh yes, you can get the software here.

[Tutorial] How to Bypass MCMC/ SKMM Blockade

[Tutorial] How to Bypass MCMC/ SKMM Blockade

Frustrated because of your favorite site inaccessible because of the MCMC?
Well, you need not to worry anymore.

Yes, there is a way to bypass the blockade imposed by the MCMC.
This can be done because the blockade is made based on DNS (Domain Name Server).
So to bypass the block, you only need to change the DNS from your ISP into another free DNS, preferably Google Public DNS.
Now, how to do it? If you are an active downloader be it from file hosting or P2P, you probably already know where and how to tweak the DNS.
This tutorial is for those who doesn't know how exactly to change their DNS.

Malaysia is going to block File Hosting servers

Malaysia is going to block File Hosting servers

The news is out there. Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) have decided to executed a multi-phase plan to block access to file hosting servers. The official letter regarding on this matter have already been released from last month, although it is not until this week that the file hosting servers were blocked.

Here is the list of addresses what MCMC would demand from the ISPs in Malaysia to block. Within this week, all the available ISPs in Malaysia including Streamyx, Maxis, Celcom, P1Max and more, already complied with the MCMC demand. They going to block the websites by phases, means a few websites at a time. Probably they wanted to asses the 'threat' posed by these websites..
So, to all my fellow Malaysians, don't be surprised if suddenly you are unable to access certain websites even the internet line is working perfectly.
