[Tutorial] DiGi Internet/MMS setting

[Tutorial] DiGi Internet/MMS setting

Probably the most famous mobile communication service provider in Malaysia. Their advertisements are everywhere, and they have a very appealing mascot. Its a dancing fat guy in a yellow tight suit. But being famous doesn't necessarily meant most subscribed. DiGi Telecommunications Sdn. Bhd. is considered to be one of the three major competing telecommunication service providers in Malaysia, others being Maxis and Celcom.

Though, their services were notoriously unreliable. I remembered when I first subscribed to a DiGi postpaid plan, and the staff at one of the service center told me that my number will be activated within 10 minutes, or an hour, give or take another couple of hours. It ended up after 2 days, and my line had yet activated. At that time I was using Celcom prepaid, and I still had some credit to spare, so I didn't mind much. But when I go the service center again, there was another staff, who quickly apologized and activated my line right then right there. Now that, completely annoyed me. Why, the fucking hell didn't the other staff just did that, 2 days earlier?? I hope that fucker got hit by a truck and died a horrible death.

[Tutorial] Maxis Internet/MMS setting

Maxis Berhad is also one of the largest telecommunication company in Malaysia. Also possibly the only integrated communication service provider in the country, with Telekom Malaysia as their rival. They have extensive range of communication products, applications and value added services. Their most famous brand is the popular prepaid brand 'Hotlink'.

Notorious for charging obscure items in their customers' bill, most people would say Maxis services are expensive. They were also allegedly involved in the Aircel scandal, an Indian mobile network operator headquartered in Chennai. But Maxis is comparable to the giant telecommunication goverment-linked company such as Telekom Malaysia, where Maxis was the one that launched 3 of the Malaysian first satellites, MEASAT 1, 2, and 3. While Telekom Malaysia is the backbone for earth satellite and land cables in Malaysia. No wonder Maxis charges are quite pricey.

Celcom Axiata Berhad, one of the oldest, and possibly the second most popular mobile telecommunications company in Malaysia. Notorious for their 'unlimited of something' promotions in various internet plan packages. Their services are mostly used by students and probably young adults as well, making them the highest wireless broadband provider subscribed in the industry.

[Tutorial] How to increase internet speed

[Tutorial] How to increase internet speed

I felt a little bit guilty because a lot of people went over to my Celcom broadband trick blog post that no longer work. It was an old trick, and yes in a way it was a some sort denial-of-service (DoS) attack. But it worked because the Celcom ISP at that time were limiting the bandwidth from their server, so the DoS was meant to render their limitation useless, allowing us direct path to the internet gateway. Something like that.

I had another blog post actually, how to bypass the broadband limit and such. But I took it down after I was made abundantly clear that such information was actually classified. Corporate secret or something, I think. Only the ISP operator should have access to that kind of information, and yes, that is why if you ever worked in the ISP building, you'll noticed that their internet speed IS NOT capped. But that was all history, and today sharing is something people doesn't care anymore. Though, that will not stop me from writing. In a way, this is like my own personal note. Something possibly useful for me in the future.

[Tutorial] How to Clash of Clan

[Tutorial] How to Clash of Clan

I've been playing this game for a few month, and I start to grow fond of it. Courtesy from Supercell, a simple mobile MMO strategy game. Its free to play but like most of the mobile game today, it have in-game purchases for those who wanted to boost their virtual town's growth a little bit faster than the rest.

I will not pretend that I'm an expert in this. In fact, I'm still new to this game. When I played this game, the first thing I did was trying to hack for gems, golds and elixirs. It was fun, though the risk was unnecessary. Hacking this game means you won't be able to get game online, where the server would easily detect your hack. This would result your account being banned and all of those hard work would go to waste. Bear in mind that now Clash of Clan have connected with Google Play for in-game achievements. Meaning that the game would not only recognized your mobile device, but also your Google accounts as well.

[Tutorial] How to put emoticon in your Blog

If you are using Wordpress for blogging, then you probably could find some plugin to use emoticon. But if you are using Blogger, then you need to add a script in order make the emoticon to show up without having the hassle of dragging, dropping, and upload it every time you wanted to post an entry.

The script that you need is this one: Emoticon Script (download)

Then, what you need to do is upload it into any file hosting services that allow direct download or could produce direct download link. Remember that the file extension is .JS (because its a javascript) and you link must end with something like 'emoticons.js'.

What, you don't know which file hosting to be used? Eh, just use Dropbox then. Its easier.

After you have uploaded the script, now you need to integrate it into your blog. Go to Layout and click Edit HTML and put this code:

Code
Effect
Code
Effect
/h i h i
/hihi
/X D
/XD
/w a h a h a
/wahaha
/h m m
/hmm
/o m g
/omg
/b l u r
/blur
/n o
/no
/b l u s h
/blush
/d i g n o s e
/dignose
/b y e
/bye
/s w e a t
/sweat
/p l e a s e
/please
/s h o c k
/shock
/f l o o r
/floor
/n o b i g d e a l
/nobigdeal

** I put spaces between the emoticon code so you could see the word.

The script also contain Yahoo emoticons B-) >:D<

In case you are wondering how to see the emoticon list, you can either look at the Yahoo emoticon pages or, well for the onion head emoticon, you can actually just open the script file using Notepad and see the coding yourself. The emoticon not only shows on blog post, but also in the comment section

Cheers >:)

[Tutorial] Can VPN bypass broadband quota?

[Tutorial] Can VPN bypass broadband quota?

Is it possible that VPN could bypass your broadband service provider imposed quota? I know that alot of people are looking a way to bypass their limited broadband quota. In fact, I do receive a few emails from my old friends asking the same thing. But one of the emails caught my attention. One of my friend, finally ask the perfect question. The question started like this, 'What is the best VPN service to bypass or have unlimited broadband quota?'. But then he proceeded to ask another question to clarify about his doubt which is, 'Actually, can VPN even bypass the broadband quota?'.

That my friends, is what you should ask first and foremost before you subscribes to any VPN at all. So what exactly does a VPN actually do? And why do they promote their services by flinging around words like 'unlimited' and 'unrestricted'? Does it mean like when a whorehouse advertise that you can get to fulfill every nasty fetishes possible in this world only in their premises but actually they just gonna put you to sleep and mug you blind, or does it mean like that time when you send your car to a workshop and the mechanic uses some fancy and confusing jargon asking you to pay this and replace that but in the end your car still going smoky on you while in the middle of the road back to your house?

Press Read More... to finally get the answer that has been bugging you ever since your internet connection have been throttled by your local lying stinking internet service provider.

[Tutorial] How to fix corrupted Winrar file

[Tutorial] How to fix corrupted Winrar file

So you have a WINZIP or WINRAR files that would not get extracted no matter what. And it turns out that this file is like, really, really important. Or you just spend almost one whole day of your life downloading this file from er, an anonymous cloud storage service that was uploaded by uh, one your office colleague. Work stuff or something, but definitely entertaining for some reason, you colleague said. So you must extract this file or tomorrow you would be the only person in the office that will be left out from this 'entertaining-yet-suspicously-large-file' conversation. What can you do to resolve this dilemma?

Today I'm going to write a tutorial to handle such problem, which is highly unlikely to happen by the way, but if it did then at least you are prepared to claim back all those time loss downloading this mysterious file. Work stuff of course, cough*.

First of all, does the problem start from the part where you were unable to completely download the file? And also you were unable to re-download it back because the file, or a part of the file, mysterious disappear from the cloud storage service? But you are so close, 8 more percent and everything will end with rolling curtains and drum-rolls, while you go and order a pizza with a big bottle coke to enjoy this *cough* work stuff. Should you ask your 'colleague' to re-upload it back or should you just suck it up and deal with the disappointment?

But then, you take one last look at the files right before condemning it into the Recycle Bin and start to wonder if there anything you could do to repair this files, or even extract a little bit of whatever left from that compressed files. I mean 8% is like, 92% more for you to view right? But when you try futilely and fruitlessly to extract this files, you just gonna get bombarded by those annoying messages saying 'This file is corrupted, and also there is a missing part, dumbo!' something like and it just infuriates you.

Actually, you can still extract the file. Its no biggie, all you have to is actually rename the file to match with the remaining parts. Easy right?

And the WINRAR software comes out with a message that pretty much sounded like, 'Which part of the message that said 'A part of this files is corrupted' that you do not understand, dumbo?'. When all seems to be hopeless, well, the effort of trying to rename the file parts is admirable enough but actually it just not enough.

And by not enough, I mean screw that stupid message and click on the tab 'Extract To' and you going to get a new window like this. In this window, choose the destination path to extract the files, AND tick on the option to 'Keep Broken Files'. Then press 'Ok'. Ready to get disappointed by yet again a futile attempt to fight the weave of fate?

Well, in all fairness you must know that would happen right? Right??? You know what, just click on close and be done with this corrupted files. If you couldn't watch the 'Obvlion' video (is it a mispelled Oblivion or it stands for another meaning?) then perhaps you should brace the completion of your humiliation where you have spend hours of downloading the whole 3 parts of the files and just another 8% you would joined the crowd talking about, um Obvlion?

Or God still loves you and you actually have succeeded in extracting the movie, uh I mean the entertaining video sent by your office colleague. Be mindful though that the file is still corrupted, meaning this video will not be able to play on the part where it is corrupted. In this tutorial, the one that is incompletely downloaded files is only part 3, so you can safely assume that the final missing 8% of the video could be probably the credit rolls that you won't even care. But if it was the first or middle parts, well.. you could miss a few scenes.

This tutorial also works on a haphazardly transferred files between flash/optical drives that turns bad or corrupted due to bad sector of the drives or by some computer hoodoo stuff or something. The most important thing is that, if it compressed and only a fraction is corrupted, then yes you can still extract and retrieve the pieces that is not corrupted, of course.

Hopes this help.

[Tutorial] How to play GameBoy in your Android phone.

[Tutorial] How to play GameBoy in your Android phone.

Do you have an old hand-held console like Gameboy, or Gameboy Color, or even Gameboy Advance? How about Nintendo DS? No? Only the old brick game? Well, I can't help you there, buddy. All I can say is that, you've missed a whole lot of portion of your childhood right there. Anyway, if you do have these old consoles, what would you do with the old games when the console itself is a little better than a scrap junk?

Good thing, is that due to the technological advancement nowadays, even our own phone have a limited capacity almost at par with a standard PC. Because there were console's emulator in the past, so a lot of people actually wondering if the emulator could be played over into our smartphones.

The answer is, yes. All thanks to those who instead of wondering, they did something to prove the theory otherwise.

[Tutorial] How to read an e-book in Android smartphone.

[Tutorial] How to read an e-book in Android smartphone.

Actually, if you didn't how to in the first place, then it means that your phone is smarter than you. Hence, the smartphone. Anyway, when we talk about e-book, everyone would quickly think about PDF or Microsoft Word documents. No? You guys use Amazon Kindle? MOBI and PRC documents then.

Now the thing is, for anyone who have used Kindle before, would realize sooner or later that the e-book that  they have is in the format of MOBI or PRC which is usually DRM (Digital Right Management) protected. So when you transfer the e-book it to your computer, you will not be able read it. Apparently if you wanted to read the DRM protected e-book, you need to somehow connected to Amazon or Adobe and verify that, it is your book. In other word you need an apps connected to Amazon.

Its really a pain in the ass actually. Even though Kindle is great and nice and all that, but you couldn't get it to be transferred to another platform when you got a new gadget, like a smartphone. With games, it is understandable that old games wouldn't be supported by the newer console, because even the game would be outdated by that time. But with books.. If you couldn't read the book, then that book better be damaged by rainwater or burned in a house fire. Otherwise, a book should be able to be read whenever and wherever you wanted to. It just a book, dammit!
